The ASME conference on Engineering Systems Design and Analysis (ESDA) is a bi-annual event, held recently in Istanbul (2002), Manchester (2004) and Turin (2006). In 2008, the conference will be held on the campus of the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology, Haifa, Israel.

ESDA 2008 will provide a forum for researchers and engineers from industry, academia and research institutes to discuss and exchange ideas, methods and results on contemporary topics in mechanical engineering. The scope of the conference covers a variety of major topics in mechanical engineering and related disciplines, ranging from theoretical developments to industrial applications and case studies. The conference consists of technical tracks (currently 20), each focusing on a specific area and headed by world leaders in the field. A detailed list of topics can be found on the conference website:
http://mecadserv1.technion.ac.il/esda08

An industrial tour to the Galilee (the northern part of Israel) as well as pre- and post-conference tours to Jerusalem will be organized by the conference.

The submitted papers will be reviewed in two stages. In the first stage, potential contributors are requested to submit abstracts of up to 400 words on any of the topics covered by the ESDA conference. The deadline for abstract submission is
October 8, 2007
